Meet Dr. Richard H. Kim

Southeastern Minnesota Oral Surgeon, Dr. Richard H. Kim

Education

Dr. Richard Kim graduated from the University of Chicago with an undergraduate degree (BA) in biology. He then graduated with a doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Northwestern University Dental School. Dr. Kim then went on to a six year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where he also obtained his Medical Degree (MD) at the Mayo Medical School. He also completed a year of general surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic.

Employment History

After completing his residency training at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Kim had been serving the community of southern Minnesota for over 15 years, primarily in Mankato, as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He then briefly went to Chicago to practice for one year, but has returned back to join Southeastern Minnesota Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates and works in our Mankato office.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Kim’s clinical interest include dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, and anesthesia.

Affiliations

Dr. Kim is a board certified diplomate on the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a fellow on the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a member of the Minnesota Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the American Dental Associates, and the Minnesota Dental Association. Dr. Kim is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Acute Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and a Basic Life Support CPR instructor.

Hobbies/Interests

Dr. Kim enjoys traveling, volunteering, and trying new restaurants and sports.

News

Ukraine Major General Anatoliy Kazmirchuk, Chief of the National Military Medical Clinical Center, recently sent out a request for dental supplies to help soldiers and civilians wounded in the war. Dr. Richard Kim of Southeastern Minnesota Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery heard the call and asked USOSM to help. Thanks to Dr. Kim, USOSM put together 70 boxes of supplies to be shipped to Ukraine.
