Before Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation

  • Have nothing to eat or drink, including WATER, for at least eight (8) hours before surgery.
  • Take morning medications, if directed at your consult. If you have questions please call us.
  • An adult driver must remain ON PREMISES with vehicle, and must stay with you for a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours after surgery. If patient is a minor, the driver must be a parent or legal guardian. 
  • Do not use illicit drugs (marijuana, meth, cocaine, etc.) within 72 hours of your procedure.
  • If you have any changes in your medical condition after your consultation: new medication or diagnosis, cold or flu symptoms, COVID exposure or positive test, please contact us.
  •  Bring inhalers – we may have you use them.
  • Wear a short-sleeve shirt or blouse.
  • No contact lenses.
  • No fingernail polish, no artificial nails.
  • No nose, lip, or tongue jewelry.
  • No flip-flops or slides. Please wear shoes that are secured to your feet.
  • No electronic device use is allowed in the operatory or recovery room.
  • A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive the patient home.
  • The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience.
  • Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves which can be rolled up past the elbow, and low-heeled shoes.
  • Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed at the time of surgery.
  • Do not wear lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the day of surgery.
  • If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset, please notify the office.
  • If you take routine oral medications, please check with the office prior to your surgical date for instructions.
